I did not believe the those numbers. I have, however, found several sources that confirm them. The numbers are based on some version of a question that asked about regular attendance - for example “do you attend church every week?” This gives a much lower number than asking people if the are part of a church or if they are Christians.
What about the number of apartment dwellers in our area?
A quick visit to the US Census web site provided some information.
