I would like to read a quote from Steve Hofferbert’s response to the trip to Montgomery Alabama. (Steve is currently working at College church, heading up their new multi-housing ministry initiative.)
“We have assumed that inviting people into a building to hear the Gospel and receive Christ is the most effective method available. Denominations in the United States have depended on program evangelism for years with good success. The same denominations now are showing flat or negative growth in the present cultural context. There is transfer growth among the churches, but not too many people are being converted to Christ.
