While I am most familiar with the “Community of HOPE” model for apartment ministry, I have also researched several other models for this ministry.
In fact, there really are several different models based on the demographics of a community.

For example, Janel and I have a friend - Golda Masters - who is going to be ordained this year. She is in her 60s, and is a children’s pastor. She also took Global Evangelism - though as a “directed study.” We got to talking about the different approaches to apartment ministry while discussing the class material.
She was really interested in how the Kids and Teens 5-19 ministry model could be used in two of the complexes near her house. In those complexes, there are many children. This ministry model is based on reaching children - so it would probably be very effective in that community. In my apartment complex, however, it would be a total failure - I don’t think there are any children in our complex right now.
